This is the first commentary in English on this fascinating
play since that of E.R. Dodds of 1960. It will take account of
the great amount written on the play since then, as well as the
discoveries that have been made about the cult of Dionysus.
Richard Seaford is Professor of Greek at the University of Exeter. He has already published widely on both the Bacchae and the Dionysus cult.
