Part of the greatest temple in Egypt, this is the publication of a little-known major work of one of the last kings of the Egyptian empire. After a brief introduction, the scenes are described, the inscriptions translated and the role of the gateway and its decoration discussed. The book concludes with drawings of the hieroglyphic texts and plates of the entire gateway, both photographic and line. As Professor Kitchen says in his foreword to this book, "In Egyptology, nothing is more urgent than the full and accurate publication of the original monuments that are the indispensible raw material for our study and understanding of one of the world's very greatest civilisations."
Dr Amin A.M.A. Amer is Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Arts, Tanta University, Egypt and the author of many articles and books on Ancient Egypt.

SOME COMMENTS BY REVIEWERS
"This book is a useful addition to the published corpus of
New Kingdom ritual scenes and texts and ensures that an accurate
record of one more vulnerable Theban monument is preserved for
posterity." JARCE
"This slender monograph is a welcome contribution to a neglected
topic in Egyptology. ... this study of the Karnak gateway of Ramesses
IX is a worthy enterprise if for no other reason than it is an
accurate publication of an original monument." Bibliotheca
Orientalis
